Mental Health Advocate from Michigan

As much as I wish a jog in the forest would fix any mental health woes, that unfortunately isn’t the case! While exercise and diet are great, I needed therapy and medication to get to past the worst of my depression and anxiety. But getting access to these services was far from a walk in the park. From doctor’s visits and referrals to finding a therapist who worked for me AND who also took my insurance?! VERY difficult and no wonder half of adult Michiganders with mental health conditions did not receive needed treatment last year.
