“Be dedicated to change the way in which people see mental illness at all levels of society. If not for yourself, advocate for those who are struggling in silence.” — Germany Kent

Michigan is experiencing a mental health, substance abuse, and suicide crisis, and truthfully, too many Michiganders aren’t getting the treatment they need. As someone that has been a victim of multiple traumatic encounters, and one that has given me perpetual anxiety since, mental health coverage is absolutely imperative to me. I absolutely appreciate the assistance that I’ve received over the years from my therapist, however, I must admit that it was extremely difficult to get my health insurance plan to cover it, initially. They declined to cover the expenses, and failed to respond for nearly 7 months before finally approving my case.
